Running one's shin into a heavy, immovable box is ill-advised.

No permanent damage, but given my penchant for bruising days, or even weeks, after an injury, the spreading bruise on my leg is a sign of just how hard I hit the box...

Dana Perino says women are morons

In case you haven't seen or read this, here's a link to the text and the actual video clip where Ms. Perino says that being a woman makes it hard to learn about military technology. Apparently, she recently had to ask what the Cuban Missile Crisis even *was* (bottom of the page and onto the next page).

So, here's the letter I sent to the White House just now:

In regards to comments made by Dana Perino on Fox News Sunday:

a day off

You can tell that you really need a day off when, the morning of your day off, the motivation to start on the list of "shit I need to get done on my next day off" is non-existant.

However, other than the taxes and starting dinner (and starting the henna for my hair, which may wait until Sunday night, given the way this weekend's schedule is working out), I've gotten the whole list completed.

I'm fighting a migraine, which I'm sure is adding to the lack of motivation. But Ive gotten cat food, picked up my glasses, dealt with the car, started a load of laundry (with load two going in shortly) and had both breakfast and lunch.

sigh

Traffic sucked today. Two major accidents between me and work, so I ended up taking surface streets.

I got my new laptop. I hate the keyboard. I need to call the help desk to figure out why my wireless access doesn't work.

The van is in the shop. It's likely they'll send us all home early today, given that we have a 4 day weekend, and not having a vehicle will make that an issue. Ah well.

*headdesk*

dear supplier,

I told you 2 weeks ago that the complaints about this part that was released 18 *months* ago were something I'd look into, but that for now, the deal was that part A was not the same as B or C in terms of service orders, so you'd have to cope and continue to ship both parts, just as you have been for the last year and a half.

migrating off LJ

A good list of migration tools here (particularly for moving to an LJ-based platform):

Baby wipe warmers that electrocute people, and those little plastic outlet covers are a choking hazard, plus others.

Think Americans want green cars? Think again

According to a survey, 40% of people said things like listening to their iPod in the car was more important than fuel efficiency, and when asked whether high tech gadgets or green tech was more important in choosing their next car, 30% said gadgets, more than twice the number who said green.

It was a small survey, so one could question the results. But the article also points out that Ford has sold twice as many vehicles with Sync as without since they introduced it...

another job interview down the tubes

Not that I'm working too hard on finding another job right now (since keeping my maternity leave benefits is kind of important)...

...but the one remaining open job lead I had disolved today. The supplier in question *knows* me, and has worked with me before, and really wants to interview me...except they don't want to do any damage to their relationship with my current employer.

*sigh*

Oh well. Such is life.
