I'm sorry, but if your doctor says you can take the baby off the oxygen, and you won't try it because you think they might stop breathing, you need some brains and some medication.

And maybe some therapy.

Especially if you're scared to take said child out of the house, even to the park, during summer, because you think they might get sick and die.

I realize that there are points where I'm overprotective, and maybe a little overly panicky about Alexander....but I realize once in a while that I'm not that bad off.

Further: If you're super super worried about your kid getting their tonsils out, having ear tubes put in, or any other 'routine' surgery like this, please STFU and go bitch to someone else. I don't want to hear it.

The same goes for people who are still having panic attacks 3 years after their child spent 4 days in the NICU, or who had to have oxygen at birth. COUNSELLING. Seriously. And drugs - there are plenty out there to choose from, and a fair number of them are safe for breastfeeding.

And the ones who feel that all their breastfeeding issues and sleep issues are because your child was suctioned at birth for meconium staining? Bite me. And don't tell me that babies who get bottles right away will never breast feed. I've seen it done, many many times. Alexander even managed to switch back and forth for a while there without issue.

Finally, if your baby dies due to complications, don't tell me that this shows how wonderful and loving your God is, and how He has a plan (ineffible though it may be) for everyone, and can use your child's death to gain followers. Seriously...if your God was that awesome, he'd be answering your prayers to bring your child home. Mine did, and I'm just a crazy Pagan :)
