There's lots in my head right now that I'm not ready to share.
So instead, you're getting random observations.

Insurance companies try to save money by suggesting that you try cheaper drugs first. When you know that a more expensive drug *works* and you're in a rather precarious position anyway, making someone try several other drugs first is money wasted.
When it's all said and done though, I will find a way to make them give me the drug that I know works for me and won't hurt Alex or make me have to give up breastfeeding.
Fuck them.

Some people I know believe that the election results are the end of the world. Others believe that we have been given a messiah.
They're both over-reacting. Most presidential candidates that get far enough to run for a major party (or even for a second-string 3rd party) would do a reasonable job in reasonable times - probably even W would have been ok without the terrorists. Most of them would do a marginal job in bad times.
I keep hearing that this is a historic election because we've elected a black president. I posit that every presidential election is historic, because it's an opportunity to change out the guy in charge. You can read about all of them in history books. So while it's an important difference, the fact that race is important at all shows how much farther we have to go on that front.

Today is my first trial of my new laptop lunchbox - probably a bit small for most adults, but it's just about right for my lunches. I didn't get the insulated sleeve to go with it, so I left it in the fridge in the mothers' lounge so my yogurt didn't go bad.
I've gotten a couple other lunch kit type containers, and I've got real Japanese bento boxes on order that should arrive later this week.
I'm contemplating thinning our stash of water bottles and insulated mugs, and then possibly replacing with a small number of stainless steel bottles. The cost of bottled water and bottled soda are astronomical, and we really ought to stick more with water and tea than soda and other things like that.
Now to stay on top of the groceries so that I can get back to eating real food...
