Kadiera's Playground Cute but Evil - it averages out

In case you haven't seen or read this, here's a link to the text and the actual video clip where Ms. Perino says that being a woman makes it hard to learn about military technology. Apparently, she recently had to ask what the Cuban Missile Crisis even *was* (bottom of the page and onto the next page).

So, here's the letter I sent to the White House just now:

In regards to comments made by Dana Perino on Fox News Sunday:

As a woman (and a mechanical engineer), I am appalled, embarrassed and insulted that someone like Ms. Perino is working in such a public position, when she clearly does not care to do the research necessary to do her job.

Her excuse that being a woman makes it harder for her to learn about missiles and other weapons is exactly the sort of statements that are used by people to convince girls to avoid math and science classes as early as elementary school - something that we need less of in the US. Someone in her position should not be putting things out to the public that make women look stupid on the whole, nor should the press secretary be saying things that make girls and young women embarrassed that they know things that most other girls in their age group don't.

I am also shocked that she had to ask what the Cuban Missile Crisis *was* recently - did she miss history class? And isn't knowing a bit about US history a prerequisite for a job that basically boils down to "public spokesperson" for the administration?

Ms. Perino makes the Iraqi Information Minister that we all laughed about in the early days of the Iraq war look brilliant by comparison - at least he was good at pretending he knew what he was talking about.
