a day off

You can tell that you really need a day off when, the morning of your day off, the motivation to start on the list of "shit I need to get done on my next day off" is non-existant.

However, other than the taxes and starting dinner (and starting the henna for my hair, which may wait until Sunday night, given the way this weekend's schedule is working out), I've gotten the whole list completed.

I'm fighting a migraine, which I'm sure is adding to the lack of motivation. But Ive gotten cat food, picked up my glasses, dealt with the car, started a load of laundry (with load two going in shortly) and had both breakfast and lunch.

My new glasses are taking some getting used to. This is quite likely because this is the first time I've had new frames since late 1994 or early 1995. The lenses in that pair of glasses were replaced a year or two later due to the coating on the lenses peeling. I wear contacts nearly all the time, but the slight changes in prescription add up over 15 years, and it had finally gotten to the point where wearing my glasses all day tended to cause headaches.

The old glasses have big round lenses, a la the mid-90's - my glasses before that were vintage late 80's plastic frames, and the change to wire frames made me feel quite grown up. This new pair has slightly smaller rectangular lenses (which is the hard part to get used to) and the flexible frames - and they *might* weigh half as much as the pair they're replacing.

Today was also the day for basic car maintenence. Got the oil changed, got the tires rotated. Still gotta empty the trash and install the button to keep the seat belt buckle from sliding to the floor.

Apparently I need a new wheel - one of them is dented badly enough that it won't balance. This is an ongoing issue, and with the cost of a new Ford wheel being ~$400, the thought of new aftermarket wheels that are less expensive is high on my preference list.

I also got the button to fix the seat belt yesterday. I can't quite get it assembled, but it's mostly that I can't create enough pressure to get the button to snap in place. Ah well. This is what husbands are for :-)

Tonight I have ritual - the first full moon I'v been to with a coven in over a year. When I did my initiation, I'd decided that between my own needs, and the directions the group I was with were heading, I needed to take a break and consolidate some things in my head.

While I think I need more time spent thinking, I also feel like I need the connection to community. And in this case, the group I'm circling with tonight is my upline - the group R originally hived off of to form White Mare. I ran into them at Convocation, and they were more than happy to invite me to join them. This is good - some of the people from WM have hooked up with them, and the group is run by two old lesbian grandmothers, who've always been supportive of me.
